Retired ICU Nurses
I stopped working in the hospital in 2019, but not fully retired, because I continue to maintain my RN license and I do perform Teaching/Education.
However, I keep up on a lot of Nursing and Medical topic activities and for some reason today, after reading a bunch of Linked-In job recruiter messages, a rhyme entered my consiousness.
Retired ICU Nurses
Let's staff an ICU
With retired Veteran Nurses,
We won't back down
We'll deny all the curses,
We will get things done
Like we did in the before times,
Back when I could write what I wanted
Not getting sued for my rhymes.
No holds barred
Grit our teeth, we'd find a way,
We were genius inventors
With new solutions every day,
If anyone bothered us
They soon learned to step aside,
ICU Nurses had serious clout
And hardly anyone died.
I am not knocking our successors
They have come up in a different society,
Where regulation, sensitivity and compliance
Look harshly on our lack of propriety,
That is, viewed through their microscope
By a thousand Doctorate Nurse educators,
And many of them never worked in the field
Like we did surrounded by alligators.
